Hey there, my friend π
This week, I journaled heavily. As a writer, I realized that some of my best writing comes when Iβm not writing a book (so basically when Iβm journaling). I believe itβs because thatβs when Iβm being completely honest, unfiltered, and genuinely trying to understand myself. (Which is the best way to understand humans in general)
Now, in order to really "get in there," to really tap into my core, I use journaling prompts. This week, I used prompts from a book I believe is one of the best if you want to get to know yourself: The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron.
I wanted to share three of them with you, in case you're like me, on a quest to understand who you are.
Here they are:
1. List 20 things you enjoy doing
Examples: Rock climbing, roller skating, baking pies, making soup, making loveβ¦ and making love again π, riding a bike, kissing in the rain, riding a horse, going for a run, reading poetryβ¦ and so forth.
2. List 5β10 of your favorite foods when you were younger
And decide to eat one or two of them this week. Yes, dessert is allowedπ°.
3. What are 10 things you want to do after youβre 60?
Examples: Bike through France, learn to play the piano, write a memoir, have a garden full of flowers, take long road trips with friends.
I hope your answers give you both a surprise and peace π«.
Life Update: A LOT is happening in my πΌ business, π§ββοΈ creative, and social life.
On the creative side, Iβm really digging deep into my core (as you can tell). For my next book, I want to tap more into timeless wisdom π, so Iβm exploring what feels really, really true.
On the business side, one big realization this week is the power of compound interest. Iβve been doing outreach for a month or two, and itβs funnyβmessages I sent weeks ago are coming back, and follow-ups keep getting replies. The lesson? Keep showing up. Even if you donβt immediately see results, opportunities will come if you do the work.
On the social side, I just keep realizing how extremely important friends are. Two of my friends are going through a breakup, and although itβs hard to see people you love going through a rough time, it also feels so importantβand even beautifulβto confront painful emotions with your friends. People need people - and every emotion is welcomedβ€οΈ.
Thatβs it from me this week β¨.
I hope you have a beautiful day - and remember: if today isnβt beautiful, I promise you; those days will come.
